Senior Electrical Design Engineer & AVEVA Administrator

Project role: Support & Configuration Engineer E3D (electrical only) and Electrical Designer

Desired starting date: 2018-06-01

Type: full-time on-site

Technical area

Electrical design and support to users and Configuration of AVEVA E3D.

Special expertise needed

Experience from electrical engineering within the industry sector or within large scale science infrastructure projects is beneficial.

Experience from plant design e.g. within the process industry or from the power generation industry is beneficial.

Experience from elaboration and implementation of generic procedures, rules/requirements associated to use of CAD & Engineering tools throughout the engineering workflow.

Administrator of Plant manager tool (AVEVA)

Good written and oral communications skills in English.

Required education background and professional experience

Electrical engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least 3 years of administration of AVEVA plant design tool within an electrical context

(E3D, Paragon and MDS) including cables, cable routing and cable raceways (including components and supports).

Experience from design of cable raceways and cable routing.

Experience from elaboration and implementation of rules, guidelines and standardization of procedures and methods when working with CAD-tools.

He/she should have experience from working within large scale industrial projects.

Experience from providing support to E3D users.

Personal Profile

Strong problem solving, analytical methods and technical skills.

Ability to work effectively in and with team(s).

Uses initiative to identify and resolve problems/issues and has good judgement.

High social skills.

Scope of the Assignment

Provide support and configuration of AVEVA E3D within an electrical context and support to internal users

Develop and administrate rules and guidelines for using E3D within an electrical context to assure that the output of design process is uniform and of high quality level

Introduce and educate staff in using AVEVA E3D within an electrical context within the ESS

Review proposed designs and other documents performed by the Section and external collaborators to ensure compliance with rules and guidelines.

Gather requirements for configuration of AVEVA E3D.

Configure the tool to fit the needs within the projects e.g. update/establish plot frames, forms and report templates.

Provide input to integration projects and to service owners of tools having an interface to AVEVA E3D e.g. ENOVIA or EPLAN.


Electrical Design Engineer

The Engineering and Integration Support Division of the European Spallation Source needs a full-time, on-site consultant to support them in the areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Design and Integration & Coordination.

Scope of the assignment

Support to the Accelerator infrastructure project with design of cable raceways, routing of cables and integration within the electrical field.

Support in coordination of interfaces to other work packages within the project.

Design of cable raceways and routing of cables using AVEVA – E3D.

Prepare documentation and technical specifications for procurement of installations and materials.

Prepare documentation for installation of cable raceways and cables.

Populate the plant 3D model in E3D with electrical equipment.

Installation planning as well as support during the installations phase.

Technical area: Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Design / Integration & Coordination.

Special expertise needed

Experience from design of cable raceways and routing of cables within the plant design field (Oil & Gas, Power or Process Industry) and experience from using 3D plant design tools for design of cable raceways and routing of cables is beneficial but not mandatory.

Experience from e.g. civil design and/or ship vessel industry could be of interest.

Experience from installation planning and procurement related to cables and installation packages systems of electrical infrastructure is beneficial but not mandatory.

Good written and oral communications skills in English.

Required Qualifications:

Engineering degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience from routing of cables and design of cable raceways using AVEVA – E3D or equivalent 3D-tool is beneficial such tools could be e.g. Revit, PDMS, MagiCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Intergraph or Creo among others.

Good knowledge of components used for cable raceways installations and cables within industry.

Experience from working within large industrial is beneficial.

Embedded developer

You will develop software for embedded systems, typically for products in the automotive industry such as integrated instrument panels on cars, motorcycles and eBikes. We expect you to be self-driven, able to challenge yourself and gain the experience you need in order to solve the tasks at hand. In this position we expect you to:

– Participate in architectural analysis and design of SW functionality

– Develop software in C / C++ for embedded systems, middle-ware and lower area

– Participate in every stage of the software development from design and brainstorming through feature implementation.

– Be an active part in an agile development team with international collaboration

Skills & Background

– Master/Bachelor in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar.

– Relevant experience from software development in RTOS and Linux based embedded systems

– Excellent skills in C, C++ for middleware development

– Thorough knowledge of object-oriented development and design.

– Experience with modern development methods such as Scrum, Continuous integration using tools such as Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Jira & RTC

– Experience from Greenhills Integrity RTOS and its toolchain is valuable

– Working in a set-up with international teams, distributed all over the world.

– Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English, German will be a benefit).

– Minimum 5 years professional experience.
